We will be staying in a wonderful villa near Alvor. This area is famous for its breathtaking coastline, wild and rugged with miles and miles of beautiful beaches and coastal walks. I have been visiting Portugal for around 19 years and it is one of my favourite destinations. I love the year round sunshine, the people and the stunning countryside. I ran my first yoga retreat near here in 2003 and that really was the beginning of The Yoga Space. I came back to the U.K. wanting to open a studio and had found 378 Meanwood Road by February 2004.
A yoga teacher training can be the start of a very personal and illuminating journey. My training in 2002 started with a weeks intensive and this was always the pattern my teacher Brian adhered to when he ran trainings at my studio. I have wanted to get back to the Algarve with yoga and thought bringing a training group here retreat style would be a nice way to begin. These 2 villas which sit side by side are big enough for students to have their own bedroom- I think that is important. Quiet time to reflect will be needed as you absorb yourself in your studies, as well as a good night’s sleep!! However, if you want to save a bit of money you can opt to share a twin room- just let me know once you have applied for the course.
October is a really lovely time to visit Portugal. There is still plenty of sunshine and the sea is warm. We will be able to do most of our practice and studies outside and there will be a couple of trips to Alvor and Luz so that we can explore the coast for a few hours.
Travel
The best airport to fly into is Faro. The villa is around a 45 minute drive. Transfers are not included in your fees but taxi/ car sharing can be arranged amongst the group. Please do not book your flight until Nichi has confirmed course- around July/August. This may be confirmed earlier- it depends on applications. We will have a couple of cars at the villa so that we can take folks to the beach on our afternoons off.
Here is a rough idea of the daily schedule. As your teacher I will be with you the whole week so I am on hand to discuss topics, mentor you and answer any questions you have. We will have a chef cooking delicious vegan and vegetarian food all week. We will eat out in Alvor and Luz on the Wednesday and Friday early evening.
