My experience of Yoga Teacher training at The Yoga Space

Mandy and Sammy Jo share their experiences of a years teacher training course.

I came to teacher training at Yoga Space in Leeds as I wanted a teacher training course that pushed my boundaries, opened up my mind, a training course that challenged my way of thinking of what yoga is and what yoga isn’t, to strengthen my own personal yoga practice and also to steer me towards becoming a more knowledgeable and intuitive teacher, a training that has all of the teaching methodology and deep immersion into anatomy and physiology that would empower me to be able to deliver a strong, challenging and dynamic yoga class where students feel that they are in safe and experienced hands, a class where they feel inspired and want to learn more….what I can say is that both Nichi Green and Brian Cooper delivered exactly that.

During the course, my own personal practice has gone from strength to strength, my A&P knowledge has massively expanded, my mind has been opened and the friendships I have made, I suspect will be life long.  This course allows you to grow individually but at the same time you have this immense group of people who support and nurture you.  If you want to teach yoga and you want to teach it from a good, strong, well informed place, with integrity and you want take your time and let the knowledge grow as you grow, then this course is for you.  I would not hesitate to recommend it!

I am now teaching in Manchester, at Virgin Active, Ashtanga Yoga Manchester and One Studio.  I will be learning yoga my whole life long and this is part of the magic of yoga and teaching yoga for me, its an on-going path of training and learning!

by Mandy MillsThe Yoga Space is a fantastic space to undertake yoga teacher training; it has provided me with a great space to learn, develop a strong foundation of knowledge in regards to; the history of yoga, different styles of yoga, anatomy and physiology of asana’s and breath, which I continue to build upon. It has given me the opportunity to work and learn from accomplished practitioners and teachers of yoga ‘Nichi Green and Brian Cooper’ and I have developed great friendships with both teachers and my peers. Both Nichi and Brian have their own unique way of teaching and sharing their yoga knowledge, experience and practice with great enthusiasm and fun. The course has helped me develop a personal practice that works for me, opening my eyes and body to other yoga styles, whilst helping me to understand and accept my yoga achievements, areas of development and limitations. My confidence and teaching abilities have developed, giving me the opportunity to support others to have the same enthusiasm for yoga as I do and by utilizing the knowledge learnt, supporting their practice development by providing guidance and challenge to develop their strength, knowledge and abilities. I now teach 3 classes a week; two at a venue in Oldham and one at Virgin Active. I also cover classes for a couple of yoga teacher friends on a regular basis.
